Job Summary :General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the worlds leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser currently have an exciting opportunity in our Inertial Fusion Technology (IFT) Group at the General Atomics Torrey Pines Facility, in support of Fusion experimental target fabrication for National Laboratorys across the country. The IFT Group is a lead fabricator of precision components in support of fusion ignition experiments at the National recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to position is responsible for production management, overseeing and coordinating the operational aspects of multiple product lines including recurring production and first of a kind research and development fabrication. May serve as a direct line manager and as a liaison between project management and the project team, planning, engineering, line management, and the customer on issues such as operational and scheduling concerns. Continually reviews status of project(s) and budgets to ensure project(s) are completed on time and within budget. Assesses project issues and develops solutions to meet production, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives. Responsible for decisions which have an impact on outcomes and where failure to complete assignments will typically result in serious delays and expenditure of additional Functions:Candidate will be responsible for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to communicate work order scope, Engineering Change Orders, and production statusCandidate will be comfortable reading design drawings, determining work flows, and communicating customer requirements to the production , track, and maintain the production work orders for multiple product management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel equipment, materials, and services are provided as neededCoordinates production activities as individual tasks, detailed schedules, preparing, issuing, controlling and expediting work orders, integration of tasks in order to meet master schedule, expediting, and coordination with outside fabricators and assistance to project and resource managers in identifying effects of task/project for task initiation, system database management, and subcontract cost estimatesAssists in identifying planning needs; develops systems to accommodate task Communication:Advises management on critical work in progress, material availability and potential production problems. Keeps Supervisor and others aware of issues with quick briefings, email notifications and weekly task leaders and project management with necessary information to be able to monitor task/project status and make informed with operating and support groups (Program Office, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Finance, QA) to collect data for preparation of schedules and reports as well as providing status reports to internal and external new systems to accommodate task accomplishment and :Backward Scheduling, Forward Scheduling, Bottom-Up Scheduling and Rate Based planning techniques to plan an effective production understand and implement GPD (Grouping, Pegging, & Distribution) principles, variants, with impacts of misalignment in grouping silosJob Qualifications:Job Qualifications:Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Planning, Engineering, Production Control or a related discipline and five or more years progressive experience in planning, scheduling, budgeting and performance measurement. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of have a thorough understanding of manufacturing planning principles, theories, techniques and concepts as well as ability to understand accounting and manufacturing systems in a research or production environment and to apply advanced planning tools and techniques; knowledge of government funds procedures and regulations; and ability to read, interpret and explain engineering in Lean Methodology and Continuous Improvement be customer focused and possess:The ability to develop and communicate new concepts and apply them accurately throughout an evolving to organize, schedule, budget and coordinate work to determine the appropriate approach at the project level and provide innovative solutions to a range of complex technical skills to maintain flow of work within the interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with internal employees and external representatives and to accurately document, report and to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive skills and knowledge of computer operations and applications of word processing and to work both independently and lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
