OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

The successful candidate will join a dynamic discovery team in the Cell Therapy Innovation (CTI) group and will contribute to developing and validating novel allogeneic cell therapy approaches. The candidate will be responsible for generating cell therapy products for in vivo experiments and for developing and performing robust, cell based assays to help characterize our cell therapy candidates. The successful candidate must be a team player, highly organized, detail oriented and must be able to execute under tight timelines.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Generates cell therapy products for in vivo experiments
  • Designs, executes, interprets and optimizes a variety of assays with high level instructions for phenotypical and functional characterization of different cell therapy candidates
  • Contributes to team decision making and meeting of objectives using relevant information, technology and resources
  • Initiates investigation of new experimental approaches to specific problems using scientific theory and technical literature
  • Plans and executes well defined scientific projects
  • Provides technical leadership across pre-clinical cell therapy projects and initiatives
  • Works effectively and collaboratively across functions
  • Has the opportunity to drive innovation and to contribute intellectually to the internal pipeline
  • Documents experiments rigorously
  • Prepares comprehensive reports and formal presentations to full range of internal and external audiences

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 2+ experience, or MS with 8+ years experience, or BS with 10+ years experience in advancing Cell Therapy, Immunology or Immuno-Oncology programs in a biotech or pharma environment
  • Cell culture expertise
  • Extensive experience in design, execution, interpretation and optimization of cell based assays such as proliferation assays, cytotoxicity, flow cytometry, reporter assays
  • Experience with cell therapy and immunology is a plus
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including experimental documentation
  • Works well with team members daily across functional areas
  • Continual learner who works independently possesses a can-do attitude and growth mindset
  • Self-driven and motivated with proven ability to learn new techniques and scientific background
  • Independent management of workload and expectations
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities rapidly to meet aggressive timelines
