Manages front-of-the-house operations: responsible for achieving planned sales and profit levels for the restaurant through the implementation, management, and enforcement of company policies, procedures, programs, and performance standards. SCOPE: Provide direction for front-of-the-house staff, ensuring execution of all employee duties to guarantee maximum guest satisfaction and a quality work environment DUTIES: Assists the restaurant staff to achieve plan profit levels while ensuring maximum guest satisfaction and the development and training of all employees. Ensures that all service systems are executed properly in a clean, safe, and friendly environment, according to all established procedures and performance standards. Builds sales by focusing the staff on image and service actions to enhance the guests perception of the restaurant. Required, under certain circumstances, to perform/assist all functions for all positions in the restaurant. Ensures the units compliance to productivity and service standards with a sufficient number of well-trained and productive employees. Conducts employment activities to include staffing (hire/term responsibilities), scheduling, training, and conducting performance reviews with all dining room personnel, as well as recommending salary increases and issuing employee work histories. Ensures accurate financial data to include: payroll, cash and receipts, productivity, and operating expenses. Attends unit management meetings, makes presentations as requested. Responsible for meeting established objectives during periods of his/her or shift supervisors supervision. Anticipates, identifies and corrects system breakdowns to achieve maximum guest satisfaction. Responsible for all communications with regard to system breakdowns and deficiencies. Ensures the thorough training and development of Shift Supervisor(s) and other non-exempt personnel directly supervised, and the documentation thereof. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Extensive standing, without breaks * Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold * Reaching heights of approximately 6 feet and depths of 2 1/2 - 3 ft. * Must have high level of mobility/flexibility in space provided * Must be able to work irregular hours under heavy pressure/stress during busy times * Must have ability to come to work on short notice * Bending, reaching, walking * Communicating with guests * Operating cash register * Carrying trays of food products weighing about 20 pounds for distances up to 30 feet * Using telephone * Lifting up to 50 pounds POSITIONS SUPERVISED: NUMBER OF PERSONS Directly: Shift Supervisors - FOH, Bookkeeper, 10 - 20 Servers, Hosts, Bus Persons during his/her shift Indirectly: All non-exempt restaurant personnel 40 - 100 SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives direction from General Manager as to specific assignments and objectives; the Guest Service Manager determines method of execution with periodic review from General Manager to determine if objectives and goals are met. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Assists General Manager with average annual sales of $ to $. BUSINESS CONTACTS: (Internal & External) Internal: Extensive contacts with all levels of store personnel and moderate contacts with Home Office departments. External: Extensive contacts include guests and limited contacts with distributors, repair technicians, and sales persons. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Excellent communications, supervisory, and guest service skills. Some college preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least one to two years prior managerial experience.
