Principal UI Engineer - Feature Team (Expanse)
San Francisco, CA
Permanent (Full time)
We're looking for an experienced UI engineer to join a feature team at Expanse, the latest addition to Palo Alto Networks Cortex.
Expanse helps protect some of the world's most important organizations by finding risks on the Internet that no one else can find. Our feature teams are responsible for building the user-facing security products that allow customers to turn trillions of Internet data points into critical cybersecurity insights.
In this role, you'll help lay the groundwork to effectively hire and on-board new engineers while improving our feature velocity: a goal that requires technical knowledge & execution, critical process thinking, and consensus-building skills.
Evaluate our current plans, proposals, and progress for evolving Expanse's front-end platform; you'll propose, gain buy-in, and enact any necessary changes to our technical roadmap
Mentor other engineers:
Impart best practices through code review and pair programming
Recommend training or learning resources as necessary
Be a mentor to other team-members informally as well as through our formal Engineering Mentorship Program
Work closely with management to evaluate and refine our interview and hiring process for front-end engineers of all levels, including efficiently onboarding new hires
Help us complete our front-end platform modernization project, recommending adjustments to requirements and plans along the way to incrementally release improvements
Own and drive a part of the long-term platform technical roadmap in collaboration with your counterparts across the organization
Be a core member of a feature team, contributing to team throughput on roadmap goals; work with different teams as necessary
Partner closely with product management and UX design to shape requirements and bootstrap new projects
Initially spend the bulk of your time coding and contributing to the code base, eventually scaling back as you take on more technical leadership and mentorship activities across teams
