Provides a proactive assessment of high-risk activities and hazardous conditions via aggregate data collection and rounding. Leads event investigations as assigned utilizing root cause analysis methodology. Collaborates with executive/clinical leaders, physicians, Risk Management, Physician Peer Review, and members of the quality and medical management Patient Safety of Science in nursing (preferred), or graduation from an accredited school of nursing AND a baccalaureate degree in another field, or graduation from an accredited school of nursing AND 10 years of progressing nursing experienceCERTIFICATION SUMMARYLicensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure CompactCertification and/or continuing education in the area of patient safety as deemed appropriate by Manager, Patient SafetyEXPERIENCE5 years of experience in a clinical settingPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBSN or Master's degreeExperience in a pediatric settingKnowledge of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory standardsExperience in process improvement or related fieldKNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIESStrong analytical, quantitative, and project management skillsExcellent communication skillsPresentation and platform skillsKnowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Visio, and PowerPointJOB RESPONSIBILITIESServes as patient safety expert consultant, resource, and collaborator for clinical leadership/staff, Medication Safety Officer, Medical Safety Coordinator, and related safety occurrence notification system, root cause analysis, and other database systems as the occurrence notification system by identifying trends and issues related to patient safety and clinical outcomes and referring reports for follow-up and action and conducts investigation of events and/or root cause analysis of events as action plans to improve patient safety based on risks identified through investigations and works collaboratively to implement error-reduction as safety coach mentor for clinical departments and promotes effective internal communication on issues of patient and provides education for physicians and clinical staff relative to patient safety issues and trends system compliance with Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals and other regulatory patient safety rounds on a regular the human, organizational, process, and systems factors that contribute to adverse events in collaboration with performance improvement professional development by expanding knowledge base of methodologies/techniques, facilitation/interviewing/investigation skills, and the use of continuous quality improvement RESPONSIBILITIESSafety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification : Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.
