What will you do?

  • Initiates, develops, recommends, implements, and evaluates engineering methods and procedures to optimize existing manufacturing processes (., keep facility operational and efficient, improve operating performance, eliminate waste, reduce cost, reduce cycle time, maximize flexibility, meet production goals, ensure quality, improve customer satisfaction, etc.).

  • Manages (., plans, organizes, and executes) project assignments of varying complexity; prioritizes projects; determines project goals; maintains project schedule and tracks project milestones; selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion; and evaluates outcomes.

  • Develops, implements, and qualifies robust, high quality, and cost effective processes for manufacturing new and/or existing world class products in an ISO 13485 environment. Successfully troubleshoot equipment and process problems in manufacturing.

  • Prepares cost estimates for labor, tooling, and equipment and prepares appropriation requests.

  • Confers with the planning function to estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs; to plan equipment and space requirements, work force utilizations, and workflow; and to design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

  • Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products/processes, including the deployment and training of team members.

  • Interfaces with other functions and departments to solve problems and performs equipment/facility commissioning activities.

  • Exercises knowledge of Lean/6σ principles in manufacturing by performing Gauge R&Rs, DOEs, etc.; utilizes methods such as 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, OEE, Value Stream Mapping, root cause analysis, SMED, statistical control, etc.; and performs design and process risk assessments (FMEA).

  • Qualifies equipment in an FDA regulated industry by managing/generating/executing qualification and production documentation (ie, SOP, WI, URS, FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, gap analysis, etc.),

  • Interfaces with senior management; coordinates and facilitates discussions and activity across various functional units; collaborates with personnel at all levels to determine and meet key goals and corresponding metrics; and encourages a spirit of teamwork by gathering input from manufacturing personnel as a component of team implementation of process improvements.

  • Provides support to manufacturing departments by collecting and processing information related to assigned projects, evaluating all information and alternatives, preparing and presenting plans, and recommending a course of action to management.

  • Develops and issues detailed specifications for procurement of packaging components; directs the implementation of new or revised packaging; recommends and implements packaging enhancements for cost reductions and quality improvements; performs packaging qualification studies as needed.

  • Ensures that packaging is within compliance of applicable Federal, International, UN and/or carrier guidelines and regulations.

  • Directs required pre-shipment testing to approve new or revised packages.

  • Works to address minor production issues related to packaging; assess and resolve packaging problems arising in production or in the field.

  • Assures compliance with corporate site and regulatory policies, practices and guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field. Minimum 7-10 years experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience with related products.

Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of office and plant environment.

  • Position may require frequent communication and walking to other areas in which designated PPE will be required.

  • Position will require sitting and standing.

  • Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

  • Advanced technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly, filling, packaging, and production equipment.

  • Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean manufacturing techniques.

  • Extensive problem solving and analytical design skills required.

  • Exceptional planning skills with an ability to anticipate and plan over a 3-6 month period.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in an environment with shifting priorities.

  • A commitment to details, quality work, and quality products.

  • High level of verbal and written communication skills required to effectively transfer technical information in a concise and understandable manner to a wide variety of technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Ability to interact effectively with vendors, customers, and employees at all levels within the company.

  • Ability to motivate others.

  • Proficiency in computer applications including, but not limited to, word-processing, spreadsheet and relational database applications.
